My work is involved with ceremony rather than utility. The pieces suggest the uses of human energy for personal and social purposes. Although I am inspired by the art of other places and times ( i.e., African granaries, early bronzes of China) my work is of my own time, culture and experience.
Along with allusions to the figure (an old idea in pottery), I make use of stylized references to other forms found in nature. Glazes serve to impart mood via their textures, colors and relationships to forms.
